HELP, installing aftermarket radio; Legacy with Auto a/c and 6cd changer

Recommended Posts

I have a Subaru Legacy Limited '05 with automatic air and a 6 cd changer. I would like to upgrade the radio/receiver in the car with an aftermarket one, but I don't want to lose my cd changer or my automatic air controls.

Is there a way that I can keep these???? Looking on multiple websites the common faceplate or at least the one i can find is only for manual ac systems.

Here is a link ... http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=120998901

Right now the cubby is free, but I am planning on mounting my GPS there, but it could be changed. I just think that having 2 radios in the car is kinda stupid, but if it is necessary to do to keep the air and cd changer then fine. I am just now sure what are my options? Thanks for all the help.

will not work

there are multiple threads on these boards detailing the frustration most of us have faced trying to install/change audio units in the limited leggies. there was even a group buy from a company divorcing the electronics and fabbing a single or double din face plate......

check the interior audio section and good luck

What are you looking to do? Just a small upgrade or all out? I would check out something like a Cleansweep or the RockFord 360 to do aftermarket amps / speakers / sub(s) or going all out and doing something like a full Kenwood or Alpine brain that integrates factory stereo to aftermarket amps, nav, satallite radio, bluetooth, tv, dvd, and so on.

Actually, I went with a cleansweep, but knowing what I do now, I would have gone with the full Kenwood brain. http://kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertainment/CarPortal™/

The Alpine FIT is real nice, but the nav box alone is $1200; a little too much for me. http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/
