Metal2You
Just another knew-B question about sizing. I've got my heart set on running Enkei RPF1 17X7.5 with 48mm offset and 6.1" of backspacing wrapped in 235-40-17 Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs. Will my heart be broken if I try to use this setup as my daily driver in the summer and hit a several autocross events and a couple of track days each year? gianspi
I'm running 245/40s on 17x8 so these should fit with room to spare. I love my wide tires. enough zip ties and duct tape will fix anything.
gianspi
Actually I prefer the wider tires for DD because it feels more stable, has a bigger contact patch, and I feel more confident around corners. enough zip ties and duct tape will fix anything. Metal2You
TireRack didn't have the Direzzas in stock, so I went with Bridgestone Potenza RE01's. The thing is they said the 235 wouldn't fit on the 7.5" wheel . So I went with 225-45-17 instead. [sIGH]
EL PAALO
235/40 17 is meant for an 8, 8.5, or 9" wheel. The 225 should be more stable and will work very well on a 7.5.
whitetiger
235/40/17 is actually alittle short for a tire size on our cars. better off with a 235/45 or a 245/
Metal2You
I wanted a light weight 17" wheel, so 7.5" was the width I went with. If that means I can't run 235 then so be it. Kinda disappointing to not get as wide a contact patch, but I'll live. 235/40/17 is actually closer in diameter to stock than 225/45/17.
whitetiger
225/45/17 is a more common size and the tires will be cheaper. also, the extra side wall is good if you are driving on rough roads.

whitetiger
^I have those as my daily driver setup on +48mm offset. with proper camber settings and very lowered, i dont rub.
Guest
What brand/model of tires? (and wheels, btw) Do you have rear camber links? I would guess so. Btw, I hear that sedans have slightly more room in the rear than wagons.
