murf
Hi, I'm new here and have a question. My wife has a'96 Legacy 5 speed that we bought new. It has only 75000 miles on it and is in great shape. To my concern... I have noticed the the clutch is engaging rather high lately and also has a slight "chatter" at times. There is NO slipping at all. I believe tht the clutch is actuated via cable and I am wondering what the freeplay should be and how it can be adjusted. Any help would be greatly appreciated. evolutionmovement
If it's cable you just adjust it via the cable end on the clutch fork. Undo one nut at the end to 'unlock' the other nut behind it and turn it either in or out as needed. Does the pedal have a lot of play before actuation? You may just have a worn clutch. jmcgliss
Our 2000 LGT wagon 5MT has always had clutch chatter, especially when cold. Dealer could not resolve this at 30,000 miles service. Workaround seems to be using firm enough revs to overcome the AWD driveline resistance...something my wife is shy about JC, Chicagoland bassist & opentracker 2005 LGT 5MT Ltd wagon 2005 LGT 5MT Ltd sedan
