Blue Posted June 14, 2008 Share Posted June 14, 2008 Strange problem with the Subaru OEM subwoofer in my 2005 Legacy GT wagon (manual transmission - if that has any relevance). A few days ago I noticed a soft, low frequency, roaring sound whenever the car was turned on. Sounded almost like a gentle wind blowing a flag or something. Variable soft roaring, blowing..... Finally tracked the source down to the subwoofer under the drivers seat. It's constantly vibrating, producing this soft low frequency random noise. It does this with the stereo completely off, with the engine off, with the climate control off. It's quiet when I get into the car, but the noise starts when I turn the ignition key to "ON" (one position short of start). The noise stays on after I turn the key BACK to "Acc", and then goes off when the key it turned to the "Off" position. Any ideas what's going on? I installed the subwoofer about a week after buying the car new, and it's worked fine since then - up until now. Still seems to work fine when playing. Thanks!
