firedawgs
I just saw this at my dealer the other day. I loved having a remote starter before. It might be in the near future, having one on the my Legacy. The price just needs to be a little lower. Bonus: it is backed by SOA. I like not having another fob, but it sounds limited.. need a review It says on the website you use the same key (FOB). But, it does state that if you have the subaru immobizer than the dealer needs to program it. I wonder which button is the start on/off switch?? mvigneau
I wonder how many feet it will start your car? No Silent CD Aux-In Solution
mvigneau
I found some information on the remote start functionality on Crutchfield's website. It is: How can I use my factory door locks to activate my remote start? The RS4LX remote start module can be programmed to activate with a double negative lock pulse (lock-lock-start feature) on the Pink wire. When this feature has been programmed, pressing the lock button on the factory remote twice within 5 seconds will trigger the remote start. Since the remote start activation relies on a negative pulse, it will be necessary in some vehicles to use a relay to convert the lock signal to a negative (ground) pulse. mvigneau
I have seen this at other place for less than $100 but of course it doesn't say anything about immobilizer or Subaru but this is a universal remote starter for OEM integration. Looks interesting, may pick up just to see what is involved. Will have to think about it more though. Should probably finish my iPod integration first. dv8ingvector
Any way(product) to remote start a 5mt? i am sure it can be done, but you would have to do it; is it is very illegal for safety reasons, in MA anyway
firedawgs
I think the only way for the remote starter to work on a 5MT is to disconnect the clutch disengage switch. The range for the remote is only about 30-50'. I bet if we track down the antenna we can lenghten it for better reception. Guest *Jedimaster*
This one has been around for Subaru's a while. The kit tells you not to use with a MT- but you still can- just make sure you don't leave your car in gear.
Deer Killer
our MT has a neutral sensor.. shouldn't be very hard to hook up.
mvigneau
If you just do a search on the web for rs-4lx on google or whatever, you can find it for less than $100 but I don't know if it will work for Subaru but it is the same model as the one listed on the website in the original post. firedawgs
I think what we have to pay the money for is the adapter (plug and play) that comes with the kit. The unit itself could probably found elsewhere for cheaper. Updated my vBGarage:
