Prod
I'm looking at getting a tow hitch for my LGT wagon. I didn't get the tow package, so my question is, how hard is it to do the wiring, or how much does it cost to get someone to do it for you? I have a 2-post lift, so I don't think the hitch bar installation will be a problem.
rubberman
The wiring is pretty easy, you'll need the Outback style trailer harness that plugs into a connector. The connector is located in the back of the car, behind the driver's side storage pocket on the side. The Subaru (included w/ Subie OEM hitch) or Draw-tite harnesses (sold sep) for the Outback will both work. Here's a thread with some pictures of the harness connector: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthrea...itch+connector
Bdubs
Get the OEM Subaru one. Part # L101SAG100. It looks the best, and is really simple to install. It says it is for outback only, but it'll fit the Leg. sedan and wagon as well. You are fortunate because the wagons come with the wiring harness plug tucked up near the tail light wiring. Its simple, plug and play.

rubberman
Fred Bean's (KOP) has the hitch for $224.22+shipping (P/N L101SAG100) and comes with the trailer light harness. Take a look at these suggestions, this is what my research and needs pointed me towards... You'll need to get a different drawbar for the hitch ball since this hitch is intended for the Outback and it has a higher rear bumper height. I actually just picked up another drawbar from etrailer and got the Class II drawbar P/N 36063. http://www.etrailer.com/pc-C2~36063.htm It keeps my trailer level without the tongue being really low and adding extra load to the hitch. I tow a 5x10 open trailer (525lbs) with my sportbike, etc for track days for a total load of about 1100 lbs. I also picked up their drawbar lock: 5200 Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock $12.95 - Padlock Style For 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver. It was the only receiver lock that I could find that would clear the small metal ears that come down around the Subaru OE hitch. http://www.etrailer.com/p-5200.htm One other recommendation to keep the bumper from getting bumped & scratched, I also got this: 80400 Trailer Hitch Bumper Guard. It fits great on the drawbar I mentioned and helps protect the bumper from the almost inevitable trailer tongue damage when connecting things. http://www.etrailer.com/pc-BMAII~80400.htm Hope this helps. I can also add some pictures later on.
