simba
I have an auto too. Do you think it will cause long term damage? I asked on the Subaru offical web site and they just said to use the car as designed. They would not give a straight answer. How long have you had it 2 wheel drive? SUBE555
My first question is why do you want/need it in 2WD mode?
NicoGamine
can I insert the fuse on my 98 Legacy wagon and run it in 2 wheel drive without damage??
Mechanically, I don't think you are damaging much as it basically forces the centre viscous clutch to (almost) totally disengage. The owner's manual says to use it for a limited time only but that is with the small spare wheel, which causes slip in the clutch, so it risks overheating. Dynamically, the car will drive like crap. evolutionmovement
You could overheat the solenoid that disengages the clutch pack as it's likely not rated for continuous duty. Steve
