08leggy
So I have had my powder coated wheels re balanced twice but my steering wheel still vibrates over 80 MPH could I need an alignment? Could the fact that the wheels are powder coated be a factor that they will never be balanced correctly?
gianspi
Check your lugnut torque. They should be at 80-90 ft/lbs. enough zip ties and duct tape will fix anything.
08leggy
Ok so I re torqued them, it seems better but still does it around 90mph I was told that I probably had them balanced on a regular machine that only covers up to 60mph and need to have them balanced on a high speed balancer does this sound right? gusgusdude
I had the same thing happen The garage that installed the new tires balanced them with the kind of weights that attach to the inside lip of the rim. Finally I took it to the dealer and he said all wheels were out of balance. He said that if they use the hammer on kind of weights then they are not balancing them at the exact spot that needs the weight. The dealer used stick on weights ... just like OEM Now the ride is perfect
08leggy
I have stick on weights inside the rim and the attachable ones on the inner part of the wheel.

EL PAALO
As long as the correct type of weight is used for the wheel, it doesn't matter which kind they use. It does sound like a balancing problem. You can try getting them road force balanced.
