outbacksam
I have just bought a nice 1999 Subaru outback LE with 150 thousand miles on it.It runs great pic will come later. My question is after the 3rd day I noticed in forward D there's a slight knock ..in reverse no knock.. in park no knock, put back in drive 3 low the knock is not so bad wagon is not moving just setting there. put drive in D forward knock is back.. seems to come from the under body. Please if anyone can help me with this Thanks in advance and thanks for having this forum here.
SuperCleanLGT
Not sure but I would get the tranny fluid changed and maybe checked out.
outbacksam
transmission fluid was just changed on purchase. no burn smell nice clear red color,no foreign material. don't believe its a internal issue..as it shifts great and no slip on engage you can feel the car start to move. I was thinking more on the lines of a mount or shock maybe a broken something that holds it in place. if not that something to do with the drive shaft if it has one. SuperCleanLGT
Is it just 1 clunk or is it a constant knock?
outbacksam
it's a knock that I feel in gas pedal and sounds like coming from under body. it is consistent with engine vibes does not occur all the time. only in D of drive is it heavyer in lower drive (forward) it is not so bad,not at all in reverse or park . I'm now thinking it's the exhaust system or a linkage for transmission.
