08 WRX = torque monster?

Recommended Posts

Wasn't sure if this was the correct room for this post, a mod can move it if needed...

Anyway, I was bored and came across [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeKOJfy-rKU]this video[/ame] on youtube. If you can't view the video it is a stage II 08 WRX during a tuning session that puts down 352awtq / 244awhp vs. 224awtq / 189awhp stock. Where are those astronomical torque numbers coming from? From all the searching I've been doing on this board the past few days trying to learn and familiarize myself with the basics I haven't come across any LGT's put down similar numbers. I was curious if this is a characteristic of the new 08's or not? I'm not at all trying to bash the LGT in anyway, just simply curious. :)

The main reason for the high TQ and HP is becuase of DYNOFLASH...they do alot of stuff to make your car LOOK fast ON PAPER.

was it an Auto tranny? that'll inflate the TQ numbers too

Blaming the "plastic POS BOV" just shows how much they are catering to people who don't know any better

let me make one more point at 330AM in the morning....DYNO FLASH has another video where they say "we swapped the WRX turbo and put in a LEGACY GT turbo"

They must be geniouses. Just becuase they got 430 out of a GT30R Legacy GT, doesnt mean they always know what they are talking about.

Is there a dyno plot? You can have 10 million wtrq, but if its just a 100 rpm peak who cares, what does the curve look like?

Sounds like wayy more torque than should be normal, unless its the torque converter inflating the numbers or more has been done to the car

Those numbers sound way off to begin with if they're quoting peak - I highly doubt it. Secondly, HP is a function of Torque not the other way around. Torque is measured while HP is calculated (work over time). Therefore, HP numbers will increase dramatically the higher an engine can rev. Like others have said, sounds like relatively low RPM numbers. Bug again, these numbers seem suspect.

I don't know. Something seems askew here. Can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's an insane (and not contributing to logevity) tune. Who knows.

Confuzzled
