eldiablo Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 So I hit a piece of road debris which put a hole on my mid-pipe and gouged the piece of metal that allows the lateral link to bolt up. The piece of metal is welded to the rear cross member. Body shop states that they need to weld in an entire new rear cross member. Does this make sense? Car rides true and there seems to be no alignment issue. Going for 2nd opinion on Saturday, but... seems like overkill to me. The mount obviously took a hit, but to completely remove / replace the rear crossmember has me confused - especially since it doesn't look like it's bent (and shop owner gave no more than a visual inspection). Anyone with experience have any input? Do you think the damage below could have resulted in a bent cross member?? Any way to definitively determine if it's bent??
