JAKEFEAR
Okay, this is a little retarded, I know that. I bought a '97 Subaru Legacy GT a year ago, and just went to swap out the T-stat along with a number of other things. Turns out the car didn't have a t-stat in it. My question is which way does the t-stat face when I install it? With the spring going into or away from the engine? Common sense says the spring will face away from the engine, into the housing, as the coolant is returning from the radiator, but I wanted to check with the experts first. Thanks for any help... ZenHooloovoo
The only reason I can answer this is because I just pulled mine... On the 2005 GT the spring is in the motor, I can't imagine they'd have changed the position for other models. Take it easy and happy motoring.
