Tyrone Biggums
noticed a new rattle yesterday, so when i got home i popped the hood just to take a quick look, and noticed rather quickly that the engine cover was completely unfastened, just resting on where it should have been connected with those popits...but there were no popits at all. that rattle is gone though as the engine cover is now in my trunk wa da tah my damie
rudy
Yeah, I was wondering, is the engine cover at all necessary, like for airflow to the IC?

fweasel
Yes, the engine cover provides a seal and funnel of sorts between the hood scoop and the TMIC. ignore him, he'll go away.
Tyrone Biggums
interesting i was planning to put it back on as soon as i can get some popits to secure it; i imagine it will be ok for a week or so with no cover? wa da tah my damie

hogmeat
I think the cover actually helps to trap heat rising off the turbo, and "funnel" it to the I/C. I think having an I/C that is NOT surrounded on all sides by a shroud catching heat that rises off a hot engine would be better... I'm pleasantly surprised... It was most certainly worth the couple bucks and 10 mins of my time. CLICK HERE FOR THE HOGZAUST
