Weird noise in the exhaust and CEL P1572....

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I'm a fairly new 05 LGT owner. I had a thread a bit ago asking about some weird exhaust sounds, (ie: sounded like beater truck, and had a exhaust smell). My dad is convinced it's a exhaust leak. I also have this sound pretty right under the rear bench that sounds sorta like boiling....or like an engine cooling down...after getting hot. This normal?

Also, after showing the car off to my dad today (some spirited driving) I got a CEL and flashing cruise light, this was after I was driving it hard and we were coming back into town. I hooked the AP up and am showing P1572. Called the dealership and was informed if was a low air flow to an O2 sensor or something like that. Of course they were eager for me to bring it in but after more questioning he told there wasn't really anything bad that could come of it. Now this isn't the same info I find on P1572 on this site. Anyone clear this up for me?

I am running stage 2 91 octane map, version 1.15 right now, there is a version 1.16 that I plan on updating to. Could this possibly be what caused this in the first place? It does seems to idle a little rough, that has been ever since last night when I washed it. Lots of questions I know, but any help would be appreciated.

One more thing, can you clear the CELs with the AP V1?

Thanks!

It says that it's an "IMM Circuit Failure (Except AntennaCircuit)", which is the immobilizer. An explanation is: "Communication failure between IMM ECM and ECM"

More about the Immobilizer can be found here: http://www.subaru-car.ru/for3/for3_body_14.pdf

Another page with codes is also: http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.php/Knowledge/OBDIITroubleCodeDefinitions

If it really IS related to the problem you have or if it is a code that originates from something harmless is hard to say (unless someone knows better).

I suggest that you do a check of the engine in general in the classic way by inspecting the spark plugs, check all hoses and wires so they are in place and end up with a compression test just to verify that nothing is amiss.

One additional action to take is to drive a short distance (about a mile) at slow speed and then pop the hood and see if the cat is glowing hot. In that case you have a problem with failing ignition and that you are venting unburnt fuel into the cat. Of course it may be that the cat is already toast and then you won't get this indication. And if you have a problem the cat may be toast anyway.

And if the immobilizer is playing havoc it may be that it actually either just needs a reset or that the module needs replacement.
