DPSubie Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I'm looking to do a little audio upgrade in my 01 and was curious to see if anyone else has done the same. Basically I'm looking to see what you added (component system or just speakers), what brands you went with, and anything else helpful. I'm on a college budget so I'm not looking to go too crazy. Thanks.

snowwhos Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I went with 4 pioneer with stock tweeters. It sounded ok for a while. but you should go with a matched set of component speakers. I would go with the FOCAL from Cartoys. They are a hand made speaker that will last much longer. I found out the hard way that you CAN blow a speaker with too little power.
andrew.anderson Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Focals are nice. we replaced all our stock speakers in the 05 LGT with Focals back in 2005.
icrackedcorn Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 more and more I wish I would've gotten a double din unit but dont get me wrong, I highly recommend my HU, especially for iPod users obedience to church and state is subjugation to the unjust authority of men
DPSubie Posted February 23, 2008 Author Posted February 23, 2008 I am actually leaning more towards a Digital Media Receiver like this one. Since I already have a factory changer I don't really see the point in getting a new cd player. This one also does bluetooth for phones. Gotta save a little more before I can do it though.

DPSubie Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 I think you can buy an adapter and just plug the changer right into the back of the receiver. I need to look a little more into it but I'm pretty sure thats all it takes.
SLegacy99 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I love my Alpine head unit (with ipod integration) and I coupled it to 6 Boston Acoustic speakers. Pretty nice, even with the factory sub. I had Kenwoods in my old Legacy and they were huge POS. Went back to stock they were so bad.
