Alpinestars96 Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I looked but I couldn't find what I was looking for. Is it pretty easy to do? Where do I start, any pictures? Thanks
meier motor sports Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 im pretty sure there is already a harness in the car.
JABBER Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 The sedans do Not have a harness you have to tap the feeds from your taillights and run a power source from the fusebox. Not real hard to do a bit time consuming. Most members have it installed at a shop. Search the forum for a wiring diagram that tells you what wires go where.
ehsnils Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Depending on where you live the connector for the trailer may be different. On European vehicles there is a 7-pin connector: http://www.clasohlson.se/Archive/Images/Products/Hi/350413_W_2005-06-08_095253.jpg Coding as follows: L - Turn Indicator Left R - Turn Indicator Right 58L - Tail/Parking Light Left 58R - Tail/Parking Light Right 31 - Ground 54 - Brake Lights 54g - Electrical Brake (But almost never used as such, and is often re-used for utility power or rear fog light). This pin is really a dark horse, so beware! Just be sure that you do it right - especially avoid mixing up ground with power or you will toast something. A fuse if you are lucky. There is a 13-pin connector too on some European cars, but it's not very common. It contains the same as the 7-pin plus some extra less used features. http://www.clasohlson.se/Archive/Images/Products/Hi/344283_W_2005-06-08_104358.jpg 1 - Left turn indicator 2 - Rear Fog Light 3 - Ground for pin 1 to 8 4 - Right turn indicator 5 - Right tail light 6 - Brake light 7 - Left tail light 8 - Reverse light 9 - Power supply (Battery power) 10 - Charging current for camper battery 11 - Spare (use at own risk) 12 - Spare (use at own risk) 13 - Ground for pin 9 to 12
SpecBee Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 If your car has a hitch already installed it may have a harness behind one of the tail light covers in your trunk. If not you should only need a ground, brake, left/right turn signal tap to a 4 prong plug. http://images.orgill.com/200x200/9709346.jpg
Bdubs Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 JABBER is correct, no harness is there on the sedans. There is a walkthrough...somewhere. I know someone spliced the wires at the dash and created their own. A stereo shop, or a place that installs hitches can do this pretty cheap as well.
Alpinestars96 Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 Thanks, it's A SOA hitch I bought and installed in august just never wired it yet.
