wiring my hitch

The sedans do Not have a harness you have to tap the feeds from your taillights and run a power source from the fusebox. Not real hard to do a bit time consuming. Most members have it installed at a shop. Search the forum for a wiring diagram that tells you what wires go where.

Depending on where you live the connector for the trailer may be different. On European vehicles there is a 7-pin connector:

Coding as follows:

L - Turn Indicator Left

R - Turn Indicator Right

58L - Tail/Parking Light Left

58R - Tail/Parking Light Right

31 - Ground

54 - Brake Lights

54g - Electrical Brake (But almost never used as such, and is often re-used for utility power or rear fog light). This pin is really a dark horse, so beware!

Just be sure that you do it right - especially avoid mixing up ground with power or you will toast something. A fuse if you are lucky.

There is a 13-pin connector too on some European cars, but it's not very common. It contains the same as the 7-pin plus some extra less used features.

If your car has a hitch already installed it may have a harness behind one of the tail light covers in your trunk. If not you should only need a ground, brake, left/right turn signal tap to a 4 prong plug.

JABBER is correct, no harness is there on the sedans. There is a walkthrough...somewhere. I know someone spliced the wires at the dash and created their own.

A stereo shop, or a place that installs hitches can do this pretty cheap as well.
