homegrwn97
Hey folks, I have been wanting and looking for a set of JDM tail lights for my 05 LGT wagon. Im having a hard time finding them used....and Im not quite sure if spending $400 for a pair of them new is worth it. Has anyone used the red overlays on their wagon? Have you had a problem with them (fading/peeling)? Ive read that they are not easy to put on and are quite tricky. The overlays are about 20 bucks but Im not sure if they look quite right. If anyone can give me your advice, opinions, comments about your experiences/prices/where to buy them that would be helpful!! Pics are welcome too! Thanks in advance. AKLGT
for the price, overlays work great. and yes, they aren't easy, but you can do it. I know my stores sell red vinyl for $15/12"x24". I'd recommend buying by the foot in case you mess up vs a kit. a razor blade to cut the excess off is super easy. Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!! squishyface
HKC LED tails http://www.hkc-speed.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=201&ccSID=c7d2fb470522edea36b81adde7a911c2 Or JDM Tails for way less than $400 http://www.hkc-speed.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=178 Overlays you may regret....just because you will ALWAYS worry about fading, peeling, tearing, or whatever. I have dealt with HKC personally, and have been pleased with the results. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=48584&d=1202519181
AKLGT
my red out overlays are doing quite well. Winter time is hard on the vinyl. I also red out my previous vehicle and ran those for well over a year. Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!!
kjiz
I put on the overlays. It was hard. Ended up with some creases and bubbles. But they look really good. And for the price I can't complain.
homegrwn97
Squishy- Yeah I PM'ed HKC and they dont have the JDM ones in stock....but they do have the LED tails. I like the way they look on your silver wagon but I dont know if I can get away with them on my SWP. Im kind of diggin the low key look anyway. AKLGT- any fading/peeling on the overlays on your car? I saw the thread where you redded out your Vibe and it looks good...but with how the leggy wagon tails curve Im afraid about the creases and bubbles kjiz is talking about. kiji- Did you get those creases and bubbles out or are they still there? Any fading or peeling? Thanks!!!!
kjiz
Creases still there, I popped the bubbles. Can't really tell unless you are right in front of it. No signs of peeling or fading. I think if you install them wet you can do away with my problems.
loserpro2
dude, if you ever choose to go for LEDs on a SWP wagon, there is nothing wrong with that and in fact, it will look really really cool. i know that someone over at the HK legacy club forum have done it on a 08 SWP wagon and it's damn cool. but i can't find the pictures =p. Mitch
I have the Screate LED's on the back of my wagon. They came in a smoked color. I thought there was a little too much chrome/silver on the sides so I got some overlays for it. Since the tails are pretty hard(for me) to do I ended up with creases. I knew I would after the first side so I didn't worry much about the other side. Because, then I trimmed them so I had no creases. I'm still not satisified though. I'll probably VHT nite-shade them with some masking off of the areas I don't want so dark. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj305/Mitch_9_23_60/DSC001851.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj305/Mitch_9_23_60/DSC00074.jpg see the diff? Mitch
Looks okay in the pic squishy. But it's not as clean as I want it to be. But thanks. oh and thanks too. Odd that in some light they look red. Whereas the "smoked" BU overlays have a brownish tint. ??? http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj305/Mitch_9_23_60/DSC00152.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj305/Mitch_9_23_60/DSC00183.jpg See?
