underpowerd Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Came across this: http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/Transmission_Rebuilding_Kits_s/10977.htm Interesting, considering these $3 discs seem to be the primary failure point for our superexpensive units, while the trans is otherwise perfectly intact. $300 kit for all new steel and friction, plus gaskets, etc. doesn't sound too bad.
underpowerd Posted March 24, 2008 Author Posted March 24, 2008 I found that link on an acura site (those poor guys go through ATs like changing socks) -- pleasantly surprised to find kits for our model there. Basically (insouciantly speaking), the gent in the thread just pulled his unit, unhalved it, and replaced the disks -- back in business. I figured I'd throw it up here since it's a $6000 question even for guys who just lose the packs, and this seems like a lower cost/bigger hour option for someone with the balls+brains, or trans specialist pal to skirt the crazy $$$ affair.
AKLGT Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 hmm.... if I were keeping the car, it'd almost be worth the small investment to see... Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah!!!
