Ekeenan86
Ok, when driving I hear a rubbing, metal on metal type noise coming from my rear wheels. I had noticed this immediately after having my tires rotated at an STS, brought it back to them and their conclusion was it's a rear diff problem. The rubbing only happens when the car is coasting, it goes away when I give it gas. Any ideas, also does this involve the rear diff. Thanks guys
SeeeeeYa
Make sure they didn't bend the disc brake backing plate so it rubs. If it is just bend it back a little, it bends easily and can be done accidentally.
Long Island Legacy
Is there a bushing you can upgrade that supports the rear diff
SSpeed
A lot of differential fluids have special additives for locking differentials so they don't clank... Subaru adds it to our rear diff... Any possibility you changed the rear diff fluid with normal fluid? Seems suspect that it happened immediately after rotating the wheels...
Ekeenan86
I had changed the rear diff fluid about 5000 miles prior with M1. However there were no problems till the tires were rotated, I even put an additive in the rear diff but the problem remains...
