Obsessotron
I want a Mesh grille on my 07 Legacy GT, but I have really come to dislike grilles that have the recessed mesh. Are there any retailers that sell a mesh grille (with or without Subaru logo) that is flush to the front of the grille as opposed to recessed? ABPillinois
This grille covers your current grille but I've heard doesn't fit perfect http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Subaru-Outback-Legacy-GT-Grille-05-06-grill_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33645QQihZ014QQitemZ330186741710QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW "All right, brain, I don't like you and you don't like me - so let's just do this and I'll get back to killing you with beer." vodoo-chile
I could make you one, and I promise mine fit I might be interested in something that looks like that. How would you attach the mesh to grill? Kyle
BDII
Depends..... do you want the mesh inside or outside of the chrome lip? I'd probably bend it so it fit on the inside, flush. Need forum help? Private Message legGTLT
SneakyFast
The ebay one attaches with black zip ties. It sounds ghetto but you can't really see them. Also if you go that route I would recommend hollowing out the innards of the grill and drilling holes for the zip ties. The directions tell you to leave it intact for structural integrity but it's plenty strong without it. It looks like crap if you don't hollow it out. Or send BDII some money and call it a day! kevinh
Is this what your looking for? AVO sells it...I like it, but too pricey. And AVO specifies..."Does NOT fit USDM bumpers 100%", "...fitment issues". What that means I dont know, but I'd like to see it done. I'd sell mine for it. jonnyg113
I was thinking about trying this myself. If there was a way to remove the chrome lip. Then it may be possible to securely attach grill mesh.
SneakyFast
It was pretty easy to secure the ebay grill with zip ties. It came out pretty clean too. Here is what I did. It probably took me 20 minutes tops. I cut out the innards of the grill using a hack saw blade then cleaned it up a bit with a dremel. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n210/shearbiggity/HollowoutGrill.jpg Then I drilled holes in six spots to secure the grill with zip ties. The grill will rest on the lip where the chrome ends and the black plastic begins. http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n210/shearbiggity/DrilledHoles.jpg Secured the grill with black zip ties... http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n210/shearbiggity/ZipTied.jpg And here is the finished product http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n210/shearbiggity/FinishedGrill.jpg
kevinh
Looks really good....I like it. Where did you get the grille from? Homemade or bought? Seems like there's a frame around it. KevinH
SneakyFast
I bought it from "The Grill Guy" on Ebay. There is a link to his stuff in post #2. It's pretty much a piece of powder coated mesh that is cut to size and it comes with a trim that goes around the mesh piece. I think it was $40 or $45 total with shipping. I'm pretty happy with it. Jerboa113
Thats much more along the lines of what I'd like. I'd have to buy a core tho so this would be much too expensive to fiddle with for me.
