DashDAQ Virtual Gauges/Datalogging/NAV Available for Purchase

OK folks. As you may know, I'm not happy at losing functionality of my OEM NAV system since upgrading injectors. MPG gauge is extremely happy and extremely inaccurate now. I've even considered ripping the whole NAV/radio thing out in favor of a Centrafuse carputer using the OEM Kenwood DDX7015 touchscreen front-end along with OBDII inputs, virtual gauges ala ECUTek products, etc. Part of the quest is to have virtual gauges up on that screen - Boost, EGT, and Temps in particular. I've considered the Greddy Informeter, Gtech Pro, carputer, gauge pods, etc. I haven't been happy with any of these choices yet for a variety of reasons.

Well, I'm reading Autoblog tonight and wouldn't you know it? What's now available for purchase? DashDAQ. Seems to do just about everything I'm looking for. Take a look. Watch the video. I'm on the fence about ordering.

There's an old thread http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39383 mentioning the original pre-production model from last year. Seems to blow away, feature-wise, the upcoming Brockway device http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74102.

Why not get an ultra mobile pc?

Easier to set up than a carputer.

Existing datalogging software can display virtual gages. The ultra mobile PC would also be able to tune your car.

Add an aux-in jack to your HU and a bluetooth navigation unit and you could have a pretty cool PC for your car.

Or, if you are geekily inclined and want to roll your own:

Very intriguing.

UMPCs are kinda spendy, but they are very tempting. Not sure how/where to mount it though. I'm right on the verge of mounting a laptop in the back and putting a CarPC display in the cubbyhole spot, it should only cost a little more ($500 laptop, $300 display, $??? labor) and should blend into the interior pretty well. (Laptop should be here next week.)

So much cool stuff, so little time...
