edekba
I've heard that stock struts/springs only last 60k on the LGT? Is this true? I had an accord run 170k w/o changing the springs or struts ... Anyone w/high miles know? thanks
PhilT
I got 76,000 miles and a blown strut if that helps. Double Award Winning Legacy GT Wagon
HansGT
a lot depends on the roads driven on and driving style.
sactojesse
I'm guessing that the underdamped USDM LGT KYBs probably won't last as long as the Bilsteins found on the USDM Spec B and 3.0R.
edekba
... damn i guess. I'm putting Ions on mine, but i dont wanna think about having to get new shocks at like 60k.
NutBucket
Once you go Ions there's no way that they'll last 60k IMHO. The shocks on your Accord were gone by 80k IMHO....I had my stock shocks on my old Accord for about 140k. Still rode pretty well, until I replaced them and said WOW! At least you have Bilsteins.....the KYB's are junk for any sort of performance spring.
edekba
really? Hmmm oh well. Guess i have to budget myself wisely then.
HansGT
figure 10-20% life lost with aftermarket springs on KYB's.
NutBucket
Heh. Mine already seem dead at 36k with maybe 20k on H-Techs. Well, maybe not dead but they're crying to be put out of their misery;)
Guest
Depends on the struts. Bilsteins are said to last 70-120k. Well, suspension inevitably deteriorates over life - slower or faster, depends on the road conditions and driving style. Same dampeners at 0k miles will feel different at 50k miles, even if still "within spec".
NutBucket
You should listen to Midas and get new shocks every 50k;)
