VtspecB
I torqued the head off of one of the screws that holds the heat shield to the bracket that is mounted to the DP. I suspect that all the heat cycles and too much *umpf* caused the failure, particularly too much *umpf*. It is the screw that is closest to the firewall, underneith the I/C. With only 2 screws now holding the HS on, I've now got a slight HS rattle that us perfectionist can't live with. What is the easiest most economical way to extract the remaining screw shaft from the nut that is welded to that bracket? I'd prefer not to remove the DP and bracket, which would be a sure way to get it out. my vBGarage
meier motor sports
any part of the bolt sticking out? or is it broken flush? are any part of the treads sticking out the other side? could try a vise grip on the exposed threads to work the bolt out. or drill a piolet hole and use an extractor if flush. or just take the other bolts off and remove the heat sheild

Gator GT
trade the car in. Get another. Tell them the bolt was defective. VtspecB
Flush, threads exposed that have gone through the nut Soaked it with PB blaster and attempted the vise grip on the rear exposed threads, no go. Pilot hole and extracter are the only way to go. my vBGarage

Pilot hole and extracter are the only way to go. Try using a propane or map gas torch. Heat up the area around the exposed threads then try the vice grips. "Belief does not make truth.
