There are supposedly 260'ish HP / 400'ish ft-lbs Bimmers coming this way very soon too. Volkswagen has been caught testing a four-door coupe version of the Passat in the desert southwest. And while the front and rear ends of the prototype are still disguised, the final shape-created by Volkswagen's new styling guru, Walter de'Silva-is becoming clearer. The four-door coupe is scheduled for debut at next spring's Geneva Motor Show. At launch it will offer a choice of two engines: a 160-hp, 1.8-liter turbocharged four, and a turbocharged 3.6-liter V-6 version with 300 horsepower and 4MOTION all-wheel drive. A wider variety of engines is to follow in the year after its launch. With the new four-door coupe VW is aiming at markets in the United States, China and Europe. The competition will be heady: Audi is planning an A7 four-door coupe to fill the gap between the A6 and A8, and BMW has a four-door coupe in mind to be added to the next generation 7-Series lineup. Much much better experience with Subaru. VW's marketing is all wrong... nothing that Subaru is any better but at least Subaru has more reliable products. Just a correction, MotorTrend said that the turbo 3.6 will have 400hp, and AWD, this makes it much more interesting. Probably still horribly expensive and, well, VW reliability FTL.
