poopy
why do most guys on this board set the rear stiffer than the front? is it to try and get a little oversteer/ thanx mike
Xenonk
yes, most production cars are designed with mild understeer (it's safer and easier for a typical driver to correct the problem). For the rest of us performers, we want the car to oversteer some.. or at least make it neutral. Keefe
Spec B
In my case, I bumped up the rear to counteract the "bounciness" I was getting over some bumps.

SubLo
it's god awefull on nyc roads. i wish i didn't get them Seriously?? That unbearable?? Well, you can always sell them since they're new if you feel that strongly. I'm sure you can do so pretty easily. Why don't you try what Gary did with the Megans - longer travel/softer springs on them? BC inverted coilovers, btw. ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...
Spec B
Sublo..did you ride in Mike's car with the inverted struts? Is it much different from our setup..ridewise?
DrGrip
Probably should have got the non-inverted...
SubLo
Sublo..did you ride in Mike's car with the inverted struts? Is it much different from our setup..ridewise? Yeah. I rode in it Tuesday night. He's actually got the BC's set softer then mine (non-inverted). Doesn't feel bad at all to me. The noises when hitting bumps seem to be noticeably louder in Mike's car. My ride was short but the handling seemed very good - very much like my car. The inherent harshness was there yes. In my short ride, it didn't seem that bad. Our budy Gary (STAR Subaru dealer) showed up to on Megans. He had the same complaints but switched his springs to longer ones and said that cleared up the problem perfectly. Myself? I'm perfectly happy with my set around NYC streets. No complaints. To each his own I guess. Sorry this is happening Mike ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...
Spec B
Mike, although you probably tried this already, perhaps you could play with the damening a little more. In my case, I feel the ride is better when they are set a little stiffer...if it is too soft it gets bouncy. The noise issue would drive me crazy tho..it probably makes it seem like it is riding much harder than it actually is. Luckily, mine have been very quiet...I guess the inverted design may have something to do with the extra noise?
poopy
i highly recommend these for "normal roads" but they suck on city roads. i had to drive to manhattan last night and the ride was insane. i also have a little more suspension work than sublo. i have 25mm sways f/r, endlinks, strut braces f/r, and i think sublo maybe be borderline crazy. just joking
DrGrip
I drove through NYC slammed on coilovers.... ....and I never will again...drive in NYC that is..
LittleBlueGT
why do most guys on this board set the rear stiffer than the front? is it to try and get a little oversteer/ thanx mike Remember our rear suspension's design utilizes mechanical advantage, so whatever spring rate or dampening level the rear has should be multiplied by around 70% to come up with the actual perceived rate. Front suspension is Strut based, so almost 1:1 wheel travel:damper travel Rear suspension is multi-link so about 3:2 wheel travel:damper travel Full tune of 68HTA, KSTech 73 MAF, Racer X FMIC and ID1000s................by the DataLog Mafia!!!
