Possible improvements to the stock stereo???

Does anyone know if it would be possible to get a wiring diagram for the stock stereo and, with a little creative soldering, replace the DAC and amplifier with higher quality components without totally disturbing the rest of the unit? The integration of the hvac and radio controls seem to preclude a new headunit, and I'm not really interested in a separate power amp hooked up to the stock unit with LOCs. Any electrical engineers out there that can offer an opinion as to the possibility of this working? Many thanks, Marc
