wind
does the new Legacy use drive-by-wire? does it offer any advantage over mechanical parts??? just curious abou it
SUBE555
The STi has it already as well as the FXT IIRC. It is said to be much better than other systems on the market as I know people who moved up from RS's and other cars to the STi and have noticed little or no impedence with the system. IIRC, it allows the computer to adjust things a little better so everything runs a bit more smoothly and efficiently (every little bit counts), but as I've said, nobody that I know of has noticed negative effects with the system. I cannot remember right now how cruise control is integrated in with the system, but I'd imagine it's computer controlled now.
ha-evolution
The STi drive-by-wire throttle is awesome! It did not feel or act any differently than a cable actuated setup. The big bonus was that there wasn't a huge throttle cable running across the engine bay and that the cruise setup was much simpler.
wind
so...Legacy uses similar drive-by-waire throttle as STi? is this like LSD that only manual get it or is it also used by auto trans? PS: tell me if i'm asking too much lol :p
SUBE555
It's an Electronic Throttle Body, as Troy said it's like using your throttle body, but without the cables. It works independant of any differentials or transmissions. Might want to check out the Tech Info thread. I'll add more info when time becomes available. You can make requests though for more info concerning a certain system though.
