anotherbrian
More information on stock suspensions from Service Manual for Outback vs Legacy Yes tire differences are 26.9" vs 24.6" = 2.3 / 2 = 1.15" difference in ground clearance for tires. . . . Now to put 17" x 8.5" on Outback and fix speedo error .
Is the final gear ratio for the Outback and Legacy the same and the Outback is just running larger diam tires, or are the ratios different to compensate for the bigger tires? I plan to follow a similar route as you with our XT (auto) wagon, so will be tracking your progress. As for fixing the speedo error, if you aren't aware of the Yellow Box (http://www.blackrobotics.com/yb_home.htm), check it out. They are commonly used when changing gear sets, and should work just as well for wheel swaps.
