supermoose
ok, this forum is most strong for BP/BL. obviously, its the best car that subaru makes. I am a impreza GC owner, and this is my BE legacy #2 - i had a 03 gt-limited when i was a kid selling subarus ~ 7 year ago and loved it, got bored and on a whim bought a BE since i happend upon one for a good cash deal..... i LOVE the legacy chassis and suspension, BE is great, BP/BL is AMAZING in comparison to a GC impreza. my GC is fully prepped (RHD conversion, JDM STi-RA v-limited spec full driveline swap, VF23 baller bearing, etc etc, 1:48 at laguna, blah blah blah. I think the BE can pull faster lap times than the GC with less power, simply bc the legacy chassis > impreza chassis. my BE is set up with: currently: Front JDM hks hipermax designed for an impreza GC or 1gen legacy turbo BC/BF in the front ~6K spring rear 05 lGT dampers on coilover sleeve kit with a 5K rear spring BE/BP multilink rear suspension is amazing, you can drop it 6 inches from stock and still not rub before you hit bump stop. not ideal, but the suspension and wheel arches accomidate some serious rubber compatiblity: front struts- i assume BL/BP fronts will fit - as long as they are same as 04 sti bottom bolting, front top hat shoudl bolt in. rear struts- BP/BL and BE are direct plug and play compatiblity physically, damper rates and spring rates obvious ++ on the newer car, but they physically completely interchange. ideal for BE owner to know, because things are really hard to find for that car. other thoughts: front GDB inverted 04 sti dampers might work very well ideal spring rates for street still pondering, i know tein flex is a 6k/6k (f/r) and BP/BL is 8k/9K, so the newer heavier chassis is very stifly sprung in comparison. http://lh3.google.com/haoming.chang/Rp0-JFY9KMI/AAAAAAAAAjo/RdeSRIQi9FI/DSC00213.JPG?imgmax=800 TEST DROP: http://lh3.google.com/haoming.chang/RqBk8VY9KTI/AAAAAAAAAk4/MvjNHznXlqE/DSC00244.JPG?imgmax=800 coilover sleeve setup' http://lh4.google.com/haoming.chang/RpJ9AN91wVI/AAAAAAAAAgM/PyR9o45eYiY/DSC00189.JPG?imgmax=800 hipermax front http://lh4.google.com/haoming.chang/RpJ7kN91wAI/AAAAAAAAAdg/jKvILL0ga7Q/DSC00190.JPG?imgmax=800 it dosnt look as good on 17's http://lh6.google.com/haoming.chang/RpJ8St91wLI/AAAAAAAAAe4/LYjOA01c6rA/DSC00196.JPG?imgmax=800 up coming development; hopefully if tire rack is actually going to deliver, ill be able to throw in the bilstein HD i ordered for the rear and give some thoughts of a BE rear bilstein. otherwise ill buy a BP/BL rear bilstein damper as i have already bought BP front bilstein dampers to put in later this week. rear 316mm rotor kit will be put togeather using nissan Skyline rear 2 pots (same as 06 wrx and jdm 2 pot subaru rear, compatible with brembo caliper bolt pattern) currently the car is rocking: v8 jdm front brembos hks hipermax front, BP rear on coilover conversion 18x8 GC010 with 225/40 s03 03 wrx shift kit and jdm pivot ballerina gc8 sti ver5 front seats enroute; bilstein dampers X4 JDM B4 interior - front and rear seats JDM S401 headlight with OEM HID whiteline rear sway bar- anyone know compatiblity between bp/be on those Ej208 RHD twin turbo swap, or ej215 stroker twinscroll on LHD my goal? beat lap time of GC8 at LS with less than 300 hp crank. my GC is ~ 320 hp crank (an old old dyno did 240 wheel on a mustang). make car into a long wheelbase GDB with rear multilink - its lighter than GDB!!! i love my legacy. will build this one and then hopefully i can baller up to BP/BL next! supermoose
i just put in a differnt rear suspension setup: BP bilstein HD + 05 usdm lgt rear spring (5.5K). this rides VERY well on my BE. im guessing that the oem BP rear strut and damper would be quite good too, but bilstein is YUMMY!
