Dubkeith
Has anybody had a problem with the shifter position sensor not recognizing the shifter is in the park position? 2004 Legacy Limited wagon Auto. Sometimes after shifting into park, the indicator on the dash shows no lighting behind any gear (P R N D 3 2 1) The shifter then cannot be shifted back down through the gears until forcing the shifter up and down. I can then hear a solenoid engage or disengage and all is well again. If the car is turned off before the shifter recognizes what gear it's in, it will not start untill I again, force the shifter up and down until the switch or sensor is triggered. It has been a intermittened problem but is progressing to a common problem that harder to egage. Any help appreciated.

Dubkeith
might need the shift cable adjusted, i have heard problems with them rusting. Anythings possible i guess. The car only has 22k on it so i certainly hope theres no rust problem. Dealer told me they've never seen this problem. Car is three months off warranty and they chuckled at my sudgestion of a good will claim. I'll fix it myself.
