RobCatron
Just wondering if anyone knows if a Hand held Nav unit will fit behind the cover in the space ? Would be nice if this sat in there... http://www.garmin.com/products/sp2660/ I am thinking of getting a Subaru but don't have access to one to check this out - I only know there is a cubby hole under the cover !!! Thx
I have the Garmin 2620 in My GT Limited. I have thought about trying to get the thing in the cubby hole, but like mentioned already, I'd have to get the external antennae. I have mine sticking smack-dab right in the center of my dash (above the cubby hole). By the way -- I love the 2620. Built in Hardrive, so it holds the entire maps, and easily updated with a Garmin supplied DVD. I whole heartedly recommend. Rob

The bottom unit is particularly interesting as it looks to come with a box with rca inputs. I assume from left to right on the bottom picture - gps speaker, gps antenna, remote control sensor, remote and rca input box. The little blue things looks to be some kind of sd ram card. I may be naive but I don't think installing this unit would be too difficult, especially for an experienced installer. There was a guy on the tsx forum that converted his non-navi to a navi. The tsx is alot more difficult as it has steering wheel mounted controls, voice recognition and the dash has to be modified. mmanus88
ok, lets say i get the pioneer nav flipout unit. i go to my guy (i can't do this crap myself :)) and what would i tell him? shave out some of the plastic on the sides and dig deeper into the cubby depth-wise? is that a possibility? if so i'll order the pioneer unit tomorow ;) if the DIN unit is asking too much, then something like this should do the trick, rite? Paul G.
This is my install. Not so groovy and seamless as a $2500 install, but for $500 it works perfectly and adds a ton of functionality to a very versatile vehicle. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/PaulGiz/P1010001r.jpg

croll326
What are the interior dimensions of the cubby? I have a Nuvi 660 and am going to purchase a LGT within a month and wanted to know if it would fit in there for a clean install. I must have everything look stock and not suctioned to the windshield. I want it to look like it grew in the dash.

Nsar
I've been looking for a satnav to fit the cubby for ages so was pleased to find this forum and thread. I went down to my local retailer and we tried to fit a Nuvi660 and there is no way it would go in, it's way too big. I did happen upon the Garmin Quest which fits perfectly, a little pressure and it squeezes into the cubby and you can close the door without any messing about. You just need to hard wire in an antenna, which would be an easy job. I'm going to buy one and get some flight case foam to stick inside the cubby so it has a really good grip. Nsar
Nuvi660 won't fit a UK spec cubby. Garmin Quest fits perfectly
