Lots of black soot..normal for a turbo?

Not sure if I have a real problem or just no familiar enough with how much soot a turbo engine spits out. I wash my car every Saturday myself. Each time I notice that the dual exhaust tips are coated with black soot. I was wondering if this is "normal"? I know that I should post a pic but I just cleaned it again so it's not present now. I will take a shot next week. Just wondering if you guys with more years of Subie/turbo experience know if black soot is commonplace. I've not had any sort of performance problem like stalling, lurching, or anything. In fact it seems to run stronger now than ever before. I've got just under 5,000 miles. I did the first oil change at 3,000 miles.

Yeah, we're running pretty rich- lots of soot over here too- if you go catless, you'll see a lot more of it. And get some cool backfiring too :D
