electricsunset
Hi I am trying to know exactly where the Temp Gauge Sensor for a 1997 Legacy 2.2 Brighton is located. Is it higher or lower than the sensor for the coolant fan? I am asking this because my car was a little low on coolant with air inside the radiator system. When this happened the coolant fan was off but the Temp gauge said Hot. At this time the engine and radiator seemed warm at best. No steam. When I added some coolant and burped the system EVERYTHING worked fine. Fan went on and Temp Gauge was like usual. My theory is that the temperature sensor for the Temperature Gauge is higher than that for the coolant fan (which is below the manifold on a pipe) and that the Temp Gauge Sensor had an air bubble This caused it to read hot. The coolant sensor, if below, was in coolant and thus was not reading Hot. Your ideas are appreicated. thanks
