Pierce
I am on techinfo.subaru.com and I think I am going to download the service manual for my engine (2.5i). They list two engines though, which one is mine? They list H4SO and the H4SO U5. I believe that the H4DOTC is the GT turbo motor and the H6DO is the 6 cylinder. I thought there was only one other motor?
taddison
Bumping this because I have the same question - anyone know the difference between the H4SO and H4SO U5 engine?
Pierce
The onlyl thing I can think of is the regular motor and the California emissions motor. What do you think?
taddison
You are correct, I just found it in the service manual's Identification chapter. The U5 engine option code means California emissions. Under the hood near the driver's side strut mount, the data plate has a section called "Option". If the option starts with "U6" then you want the H4SO service manual, if it starts with "U5" then you want the H4SO U5 service manual.
