amp signal?

right now, i just want to add a sub in my stock '05 sedan. my quesion is, where is the best place to get the signal to go to the amplifier? does the stock HU by chance have pre outs? use signal from rear doors? use wire for stock sub somehow? ANY and all suggestions/ideas would be really appreciated. thanks.

The stock HU does not have preouts, but you could tap into wiring using a high-to-low level adaptor. Here's a link to the wiring code:

You should be able to grab signal at the factory sub too (still need H-to-L adaptor). Here is a link to that:

If you choose to get it from the sub then you are going to have to use the ignition as a turn-on lead for the amp (no remote at sub, only ignition)

From the radio you can have the amp only turn on with the radio (using the antenna remote)

BTW I really enjoy sharing any expertise I have in this arena b/c I spent a decade as a customizer (hence the name and plates).

 

If you could imagine it, we would create it, and if not, we would do both for you; whether it were car, boat, house, or secret underwater lair. Sadly though it's been five years since I moved on to other, more scientific things, but this helps ease the pain.
