2007 antenna connections different?

My installer advised me that the antenna connections on my Subaru radio are not compatible with the FM adapter that came with my Starbase? So I have to buy 2 $20 adapters. I called C City. They would have charged me $25 each. Did Subaru reinvent the wheel here?

[Corrected] Yes, 2005, 2006, and 2007 Legacy radios do use a proprietary antenna connection with a plastic rectangular plug. Three different after-market companies now have individual male and female adapters -- Metra, Scosche, and American International. Two of the companies also sell the pair needed for an FM modulator packaged together.

Pictures of the adapters here.
