left footed whooten
Huge discrepancy here, ~$3500 of discrepancy. For a private party sale, which can I expect people to use, or which should I stick to for my selling price? When we bought the 06 OB from Lithia, they stuck by edmunds as their reference for our trade-in, obviously because it favors the buyer, and KBB seems to favor the seller. (car for sale is 97 Outback) Thanks in advance.
redpill66
KBB favors the seller because they started as a ref. for sellers exclusively, while edmunds is more consumer-oriented. What it comes down to is: the book value is just a starting point for price. I have only bought one car over the edmunds price, and I dont regret it, because it was in brand new shape despite being 120k miles and 10 years old. Just depends on what condition the car is in.
