Strabismo
They figured out a way to recreate total 3d sound immersion illusion with just a pair of stereo headphones. You absolutely need stereo headphones to make it work. http://gprime.net/flash.php/soundimmersion I must warn you, it is so realistic that it gets creepy. Strabismo
I believe that they just used a fake human head very similar to a real one and installed one microphone in each ear then recorded someone shaking a box of matches around the fake head. The way the sound echoes in the weird shapes of our ears is different depending the origin of the sound and this is how our brain can figure out where the sound comes from. hogmeat
OMG!!! I ABOUT CRAPPED MY PANTS!!! I'm serious. I was like looking around the room for that damn matchbox. Each effect is so lifelike and enviromental that my muscles flexed each time. I noticed one thing - if you turn your head, the effect is gone! I'm pleasantly surprised... It was most certainly worth the couple bucks and 10 mins of my time. CLICK HERE FOR THE HOGZAUST

dr. pepper
listened to this once, didn't sound that great. I check to make sure my $200 pro headphones aren't dying, and realize I left them on mono, instead of stereo. DOH! Tried it again, and.... HOLY SH!T, i'm still tweakin out lookin for the midget behind my chair shaking the matchbox.
Strabismo
Can you imagine playing F.E.A.R. or Doom3 with that kind of technology?
