moviemadness
has anyone been through this? how do you take out the ECU? can someone direct me to a link? If I just go to the dealer, they would definitely void my warranty, right?
antny
The ECU is under the passenger floor board. If you pull the carpet up you should see the portective metal cover. If it is anything Like a WRX which it should be. unscrew the nuts off the covering and then the ecu should have 2-3 nuts holding it down also. Unplug all the harnesses and it should come right out. scoobydrew
If you're talking about a stock re-flash, I was told by a dealership that they are able to only flash updates, that they have to send it away for full stock re-flash. moviemadness
cobb called it benchflashing, since the corrupt AP screwed up my ecu data, they have to benchflash it, which I have no idea what that means..
Jon in CT
Benchflashing means you take the ECU out of the car and put it on a workbench. Then you open it up and connect a cable from a PC directly to the circuit board and reflash it using the same method the factory used.
moviemadness
yes I understand that. well it turns out I don't need it anymore the AP suddenly decided to work again, so i'm back to the stock map, and the friggin car now starts.. thank god.
