Tire pressure: Max - 10% = better mileage?

Runflat has nothing to do with TPMS.

But has everything to do with your crappy fuel economy, and rough ride. Runflats ride like crap.

How am I supposed to know if a tire has lost pressure without TPMS? Will it collapse like a flat tire when I stop? I've never had runflats, so I'm assuming that TPMS would alert you to a tire failure, letting you know you have 50 miles to get it repaired or changed.

Agreed on the shit ride and fuel economy. I can't wait to get rid of them next spring.

It'll look low, and won't inflate when you try.

You should be able to feel the loss in handling. When in doubt over a puncture while driving, I'll swerve left and right just a bit to see if the car is handling adversley.

People survived before TPMS! :)

Oooo looks can be really deceiving with radial tires....you know that tech talk article on Tire Rack about this?

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=1

One tire is 10lbs under normal pressure, the other is normal, and the two tires look identical. I never rely too much on looks with car tires, they can appear inflated with just a modicum of air in there. I would only imagine this effect would be magnified with runflats.

The best way to know is to regularly check your tire pressure, there's no substitute.

Agreed, and I do it weekly. I have 33 gallon Craftsman compressor, and lately that's been it's only use, LOL.

With runflats? Dunno, IMHO, I would never install runflats or a self sealing tire without TPMS. But the previous owner thought it was a genius idea

And LOL @ swerving and looking for adverse effects; I'm still on stock suspension

Shouldn't matter if you're on the stock suspension. If steering hard to port and starboard, and the boat sways more one way than the other, you know you have a problem :).

Fair enough, guess it's a direct baseline comparison. I'm just dying to get sways

A nice RSB will make a big difference! One of the best bang-for-your-buck mods IMHO. $75 for the sway bar and bushings kit for the 2010 STI, which bolts right up to 5th gen LGT's, and got rid of so much body roll (just going from a 16mm stock to the 19mm bar).

Thanks, much cheaper than aftermarket alternatives! Would a front sway induce understeer?

It would if your car is poorly set up.

With almost no exceptions, in an AWD car a bigger front bar than rear and a good alignment will produce the most predictable handling. Daily drivers shouldn't oversteer. They should track well, and push out at the limit.

Hahaha predictable all right.

I beg to differ!!! :D

Your cold max tire pressure is 40 psi?!?! What kind of tires are you using?

So apparently that was the bead seating pressure. 51 PSI is listed as max inflation pressure. D'OH! :spin:

Oh, and I'd never run them at 45PSI, that'd be insane!
