DukeTrout
I was detail cleaning the wheels on the new car when I noticed what looked like a circumferential crack on the midpipe flange. Pics below. It looks more defined in person than in the pics, but you can get an idea from them. Is this a problem? It doesn't sound like it has a leak, nor do I see any soot or real gaps. Ich bin echt viel netter, wenn ich nuechtern bin. Echt!
BoxerGT2.5
I don't see a crack? I think your looking at the edge of the weld. OBAMA......One Big Ass Mistake America!
DukeTrout
I hope so, but there is definitely something that looks like a crack, and it's not at the weld. It's along the circumference of the outer edge of the flange. I've seen flanges, both in person and in pictures, and I've never seen this. The outer edge of the flange is generally smooth. Here's a picture with the "crack" highlighted: Ich bin echt viel netter, wenn ich nuechtern bin. Echt!

PeterJMC
Looks like marks left by the casting for the flange nothing more.
jah64
those flanges are punched out of 1/4" plate. you are seeing the shear marks from the die. Nothing to worry about.
