Gash in tire lip

The car has stock tires and wheels and i have a gash in the lip on two of the wheels. Tires have not lost any air but just wondering if this if this should be considered serious. Also is it worth it to replace the 2 damaged tires or all four?

On a side note anybody else find that these sidewall lips split easily?

If you curb the wheel, the rim guard will cut. It's just a thin piece of rubber. It's designed to protect your rim while parallel parking. Sounds like it did its job in one of the above cases.

I don't see how curbing your wheels is a problem with the tires.

For what it's worth, the rim guard is just "extra" rubber on the side of the tire, and if it isn't digging too deep into the sidewall (meaning if it looks flush with the rest of the tire) and you aren't losing air, it's fine.

Last winter, when the stock tires were still on, I cut a corner too tight where the curb was hidden by snow and ripped that rim protector. It was just cosmetic damage so Gorilla glued the loose piece back in place and it held fine the 10 months or so before winter tires went on those rims this past fall.
