SSN666
I can't find the answers in a simple search or in the manuals and I don't want to take parts off just to find these answers. 1) On a 2005 LGT wagon the trans cooler lines go to the radiator (well known I'm sure) but at the spot just ahead of the battery one is routed to under the battery and then comes back out. I don't want to remove the battery just for curiosity, so why is this so? Thermal expansion seems unlikely. Whats under there? 2) I saw a comment somewhere that there is an external filter on the 5AT sport transmisison? Is that true? I have been thinking of adding an external trans filter but there is not a lot of room in the engine compartment.
automaticsti
yeah, i beleive its under the battery, its not that bad to remove, you will have to if you ever want to change the blinker on that side.
jerseyglock
Yes, there is a tranny filter. Its right above the windshield washer tank. Remove front bumper when change filter, less mess.
SSN666
Thanks, I found it. Once I knew the area, I looked thru a small space between the battery and fender and there it was. You two answered both questions. The 'mystery' lines are the supply and return for the filter.
