bugblatterbeast
I was wondering if anyone can answer the following: 1) At what load/boost level does the ej255 transition from developping max torque at MBT to a knock limited advance? Obviously this will depend on mixture and octane, but I'm looking for a rough guideline. Can I safely assume that at WOT on 94 octane, I'm knock limited? 2) Does the factory knock sensor function at all RPMs and loads or is there a threshold where the ECU ignores the sensor input 3) Why do the learned knock table indices not span the full load / rpm range of the engine. Is this an indication that the knock sensor is ignored above certain RPMs/loads?
sgt
From what I have seen on other engines from other mfgs, the knock sensor seems to be ignored past ~5500-6000 rpm. Most claim that the engine noise at that point is too great and an accurate signal cannot be distinguished. Given the rpm points on the knock map I would assume that this is also the case. Of course you know what they say about assuming..... =P
