legacy4me
I met up with the specialists today and they are going to install the lights on Wednesday. They talked about a relay for the DRL's, but they informed me that I should dissable DRL's first. I know there is a write up on DRL's already, are they easy to disable. I will post updates once I get the lights installed.
Pman2g
Yes very easy.....here...follow these directions, and yes you should dissable your DRL's before you install your HID's. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2117&highlight=drl+disable

legacy4me
As soon as I get them installed. And once I run out of gas from driving around with them on all night, I will take pics. Where are you getting yours at ?
legacy4me
Yes very easy.....here...follow these directions, and yes you should dissable your DRL's before you install your HID's. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2117&highlight=drl+disable I just disabled the DRL's. IT was easier than I thought. I hope I did everything correctly. Once I unscrewed the two side screws, I pulled down on the cover and it popped off. Once I took off the cover I saw alot of plugs, I kept thinking of the picture from the above link, and then saw in the top left corner, a green sticker that said something like SUBARU DRL. and I unplugged that, tried to put it in a spot that wouldnt rattle hopefully. Checked to make sure they were disabled. Screwed the cover on, and I was all set. I also compared the car to our IS 300's HID's. My Silverstars in my Legacy look bright while on road, but not when compared side by side real HID's. I forgot to take pics of this comparison with silverstars, but will take some before my HID's are installed.
TSiWRX
^ If you want your light to be as useful as that on your Lexus (which, as a factory HID system, should come in at between 4300 to 4600K), you'll want to stick to about 5000K or lower color-temperature. 6000K pushes into the blue range - while it may appear to give off that cool-blue "HID look," their performance will be somewhat sub-optimal/compromised, particularly during inclimate weather conditions. You will also tend to think that you're "seeing farther" as the bluish tint of the light will tend to highlight street-signs, but this is purely an illusion which can even be achieved with the dreaded "blue bulbs." If this is the dealer/shop that you referred to in this thread: http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42418 Then, honestly, you're truly *NOT* getting a system that's any more "OEM" than any other simple plug-and-play kit. <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family

Pman2g
You can just change bulbs for the temp? I think once you install the kit the bulbs are interchangable for different colors??

If I dont like the color of the kit I am getting, I can just put in 43000k bulbs, correct?
TSiWRX
^ Correct. But, bro, you're one order of magnitude off..... 4,300K, not 43,000K I know it was a typo, but still, thought it was funny! If you live in a brightly-lit city atmosphere, legacy4me, you might actually feel that the 6000K setup is very acceptable - or even preferable - as it should provide some contrast on-road with ambient street lighting, as well as serve to highlight signage. And if you have reflectors buried in the road-surface, you may not notice much compromise at all in inclimate weather. <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family

The dealer told me that 6,000k is the lowest temp of all their kits. and thats its the most whitest and clearest. I know about all the other temps, but from all the pics and info I've gotten, the 6,000k seems just like the 4,300 - 5,000 other kits. I will know after they are installed I guess. I will post pics too.
legacy4me
Kit was installed today, only took 30 mins! I got a discounted price since I had already disabled the DRL's and no relay was needed. The install looks very clean, cant even tell the ballasts are there until you search for them. There was a little trouble however. Once I first drove off the lot, my "check engine light" was on, and the green "cruise" button was blinking. I took the car back, they turned it off for about 30 seconds, turned it back on, and the warning lights were no more. I will keep an eye and see if anything looks fishy. The lights look so good. They dont look at purple as I thought they would. It's not night yet, so I will really know what they look like in a few hours. I beleive they need to still burn in though, they have a nice cut off, with like a yellowish line at the top. I dont have any complaints yet. I will keep you posted with this kit.
