CasopoliS
General thoughts and tips to come.... Here is a starter: It went well. I used a heat gun and Balrock01 used the oven. I did not want to harm my eyelids. 1 - heat the entire seal with the heat gun, dont just focus on one section (you will melt the plastic). The only way they will pull apart is if ALL the glue is melted. i.e. you cannot heat up half to 'start' pulling them apart, you have to heat the entire thing before getting just 1 section to move 2 - heating in the oven was cleaner and easier because the entire seal gets hot at once. The problem is everything else is blazing hot so its hard to separate the 2 halves. Wear oven mits that still provide some crontol with the fingers. heat gloves would probably be best 3 - dont touch the hot lights with goop / sealer on your gloves or hands. it will smear / stick to the headlight because it is blazing hot. In this event just let it sit there and use goo gone after everything cools. 4 - when taking the popits off the car (for bumper removal). Once they are out, yank on the middle 'pole' of the poppit and remove it. The only way they will go back in is inserting the outter ring first, then jamming in the center pole. Dont try to put the entire pop-it in with the center still attached. I used a spark plug socket to push on the outer ring without pushing on the center. 5 - silverstar bulbs make it look sweet when they are lit and when they are not lit. They are a good investment for the looks. Everything turned out good and nothing bad happened. I slightly melted a tab because they are so thin.... but nothing too big, its not real noticable. I killed a bulb somehow, maybe my skin oil got on the surface or something, so I bought a new headlight. The Sylvania H7 headlight that has a blue package and says OEM on it matches perfectly. It matched my other headlight bulb perfectly. The race is on.... I lost but 2 against 1... c'mon! http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/3606/img5598po3.jpg http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/6752/img5597ml9.jpg http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/2917/img5592tg1.jpg Oven Method - preferred if you don't have eyelids or any other pre-existing headlight mod I think it was 280 degrees for 8 minutes. Craig should come in here to verify. http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/163/img5601zt3.jpg Some scattered parts in the kitchen.... http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/2711/img5607fc4.jpg http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/3734/img5608sv4.jpg The heat gun method. Keeps heat away from everything and just focuses it on the seam. You MUST heat entire seam. Don't try to just heat 1 section and work your way around. Heat the seam, then have someone with mits start prying the two halves apart. Then blow heat on the seams as the two sides start to separate. I think this method worked well, and I did not have to worry about my eyelids. http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/8979/img5611wa7.jpg Someone etched their initials on the inside of my headlight!!???? WTF ?!? http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/3586/img5616rl9.jpg Heat the seams on both sides once you are ready to re-assemble. http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/6808/img5617ge2.jpg

CasopoliS
Yes there are more. Here are the nicest bulbs to put in... as far as looks. Craig has been running them for like a year so you know they last at least that long! http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/8499/img5642um9.jpg The flash pics up the multi-colored bulb coating. This pis is with the bulbs off. http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/8931/img5637aa3.jpg This is with the bulbs on. http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/5238/img5638yl6.jpg Here is the same shot off and on http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/8453/img5634zn6.jpg http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/6707/img5635vc0.jpg
CasopoliS
The Sylvania Silverstars are nice because they keep the housing clear while still blinking amber. $20 for 2 at Autozone. Or if Autozone has a glitch in their system you get them for $12 . http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/5888/img5643xd2.jpg It took a while so here is a night pic. http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/3852/img5649ek3.jpg

iuksob03
Bump for the pizza +10000000 Yep, 280 for 8 minutes like stated somewhere in the clearing walkthrough thread. The heat gun worked better than my previous attempt. Then again, that gun looked a little more powerful than the $40 one I bought at ace. I think oven is the way to go if you're the only one working on it. Both ways ended up coming out a lot less painful than when I did mine, much cleaner. CasopoliS
very helpful, thanks guys. how long did the whole process take? 15 minutes for Vance to show off the Xbox360 on the DLP 10 minutes for him to make me his iced cappacino *spelling 20 minutes of cursing at the pop-its 5 minutes for me tho whine about my back, which is thrown out thanks to the stock headers 20 for me to realize a headlight bulb was blown and to drive to Autozone and analyze my options I would say block out a 2-3 hours of fun and excitement. taking the bumper off and on should be no more than 30 minutes each time, each headlight should probably take 30 minutes... 10 to prep and heat, 10 to remove the stuff, and 10 to reattach and re-heat for the glue to settle. It takes a bit to prep the lights.

nike923
well, i hope you you guys are happy. it's 230am and i just finished my lights. after reading the walkthrough at 8 pm, i decided to make an autozone run and get it done. i couldn't be happier. i've been wanting to do this for so long and i finally just decided to clear out my headlights. one problem though...i have two pop-its left over and i can't for the life of me figure out where they go. grille is properly installed and bumper is secure and tight. is there anyway someway could post a diagram showing the pop-its underneath the bumber? and maybe under the hood (those that would have been removed during this mod)? thanks. Underneath, there are 3 on each side, 1 in the center (to a metal bracket), and 1 under each wheel well. I guess that makes 9 total, but I could be mistaken. Underneath, there might be popits between the sides and center... making it 11. Don't forget there are little popits on the black bracket under the headlights. There is 1 on each side and they are worthless. You have to take that bracket out to get the lights out. There are also popits on the top of the headlights, 1 per headlight. These are smaller than the ones for the bumper.
