G.T.Subie
I installed an after market up pipe and the EGT Sensor came out. I need to know the size and diameter of the EGT Sensor itself so I can plug the hole of my up pipe. Denial is your best friend

mickeyd2005
Just curious... Why not reuse your EGT sensor if there is a bung for it? Was it damaged? Some aftermarket up-pipes don't have an EGT bung and they recommend using a resistor to prevent the CEL.
rc0032
I would not sure the stock one because there is the chance of is failing and entering the turbo.
G.T.Subie
I used the stock EGT but it was not connected to the the car and I cut the prong that actually goes into the UP. I used the resistor on the other end. Denial is your best friend
G.T.Subie
Any Ideas on what to use to plug this. SHould I just use a bolt and washer.I sound like a POS Honda ricer. Denial is your best friend
rc0032
Ok since its near impossible to find a bolt the correct length what we do…Put two nuts on the bolt all the way up. Put the bolt in the uppipe till it bottoms out (lightly), then back it out a ¼ turn and put the first nut down flush with the uppipe. Then use the second nut as a jam nut against the first bolt. If you EVER want to get this out use some antiseize
G.T.Subie
So the bolt is actually threaded into the passage of the UP. This doesn't hinder airflow. I'm somewhat of a nOoB to modding. Denial is your best friend
rc0032
I’m not sure what brand uppipe you have but on the ones I have done the bung that holds the bolt doesn’t go all the way through the uppupe but rather has a smaller hole at the end that allows just the tip of the sensor to pass through. So the bolt will never enter the flow of the air in the uppipe. You can see it when the uppipe is out.

PhilT
I've had my stock EGT sensor in since fitting my PDE UP almost a year ago. There is no greater risk of it breaking off now than there was before. Yes I know it's redundant as the cat it is supposed to protect has gone, but it's a good indication of the state of your tune without going to the trouble of fitting an aftermarket sensor in the headers. BOXRPWR
Had to plug the EGT hole in my UP for a few days a while back. Used a metric spark plug! It worked great.

rpbyrd2
I took a bolt and cut it to length and used a lock washer

Actually, there is a greater risk, as the increased flow due to no catalyst, puts more stress on the long probe. I've seen the results...not too gentle on the turbo impeller.
