Tinted Lights

Recommended Posts

Has anyone here tinted their tail-lights? I can imagine it looking ridiculously nice on a black debadged LGT. It would just be completely blacked out and stealthy. I've seen tinted tails before, but I'm not sure if it is legal or if it noticably detracts from the intensity of the lights?? Has anyone here tried it?

I would say it's not legal but cops might not notice the car didnt come that way. NJ has weird laws like no tint on the front windows so my guess is it's a big NO in NJ but that's just a guess

my thought is that the cops wont notice b/c it's about the same darkness as the pontiac tails are. At least the old grand am's & grand prix's had em real dark like that. The reverse cutout makes it less noticeable

Legality depends on your local laws - as well as how harshly they are enforced.

Check into this before you purchase.

If things are "iffy" in your area, you can try using the "lighter" films such as the "Ovals" from Jinsu, which will allow the appearance of more "red-by-sight" than typical "complete" black-outs. The "Cleared" center option may further help this illusion, as will positioning the film so that it allows a bit of the red reflector to peek through at the center "Cleared" cut-out.
