mcsquish
I'm getting ready to get my windows tinted and was wondering what peoples thoughts on FormulaONE window tint were. My two choices are a shop that uses FormulaONE and a different shop that just told me that their's is not polyester. I'm thinking of going with the first shop since they sounded to know their stuff, and told me who they use. Yeah, I know I said "sounded".......insert smart a$$ comment here..... I just wondered about the brand they use. ________ Marijuana
Barrok
I just got FormulaOne Pinnacle (ceramic) and so far it seems to have done the trick. Looks nice and dark like I wanted and doesn't interfere with the radio signal. I have only had the tint for 2 weeks so I can't comment on it's long term quality. pedzola
3M tint is the best. You will not get long-term coloration (purple) or bubbling like you will with other brands of tint. Here's some details: 3M™ Window Film Product Catalog Ask your shop if they can get 3M tint. It will be more $$, but worth it. I think it's about $80 for a 1-car roll. Hello consumer. Brandon-K
I've got Huper Optik 30% nano ceramic tint. I've been looking for a shop that carries this brand for months. Ever since I got my car I've been on the hunt.... Why is such a good brand so rare??
pedzola
Lol... I'd trust a company that makes space shuttle parts and window tint for OFFICE BUILDINGS that has to last YEARS (3M) before I trust Hyper Optik Super Nano Titanium-Ceramic Special Edition Gangsta Tint (Limited Edition). mcsquish
OK, so I guess I now have another question. Ceramic or metal? I guess, how much reduction in RF does metal cause? I use a handheld GPS in my car for trips, should I go with ceramic? I guess I wasn't planning to drop around $300 for tint, but if I need to, I will. ________ Pornstars spanish
vincedog3
Ill bet the GPS will be fine since it is way up there in the spectrum RF wise. Even FM which has a wire that runs the pillar in our cars are not negatively affected. Enjoy the tint. I was going to tint and still may, but the law out here hassles tint that is dark on the front windows driver and passenger. I have to get more info on the letter on the law out here. Some states have a percentage of dark tint allowed and use a guage to measure the tint. I don't think calif. allows any. For your car audio/video needs:D Audio Crafters IS it. In Pasadena Ca. mcsquish
I wondered where the heck that was. I figured the rear window, but that didn't make much since. Thanks!! ________ Cheap crosman airsoft bottle white heavy
mbacis
I have Formula1 Pinnacle as well. I'm very pleased, just wish I had gone one step darker than my 50%/35%. It's pricey, but I'm not concerned with it ever fading and I don't have to worry about it interfering with any signals.
silverfool
i was gonna go 40/20 on mine, but then the guy showed me another car with black interior with 40 all the way around and it looked DARK. i'm wussying out to 50/40 now.
xtremeaudio44
I had Madico installed which is supposed to be one of the best. I got 35 on the front and 20 in the rear. I wish I would have gone with 50 in the front and 35 in the rear after seeing it. Still looks great just have to deal with cops.
SSN666
silverfool, Did you get in and look out? I was concerned about the 20% on the rear 3 (a wagon) but the dealer had a big Ford SUV with 20% that I could look at. It's not as bad from the inside as you might think. In my state the minimums are 50% front, 35% center, 'go for it' rear. I got Madico also. Get a good installer. When first finished the bumps around the blacked out areas will probably not let the film set completely down on the glass and will leave a little 'white' line. My dealer volunteered the information ahead of time to bring the car back after 3 or 4 days so that they can go over those areas and seat the film. mcsquish
Thanks everyone for all of the info. I'm going to the shop tomorrow to choose which film I'm going to use. Now I can't wait untill I go out of town for work. I'm going to drop it off and get the windows tinted and a power sunroof installed while I'm gone. 50% front and maybe 20% the other 5 (wagon) ________ Free Porn Vides
silverfool
nah, i was looking from the outside in. i figure from inside looking out the diff betw 40 and 50 are negligible, but from outside in, i'm worried getting pulled over.
Two-Five Sti-L
Is the "weakness" of the imbedded antenna strictly an issue w/the LGTs? I ask because my other car (honda) has an imbedded antenna as well and I have no problems w/radio reception despite having tinted windows (40%) Do we HAVE TO get non-metallic tints in order to maintain good radio reception?
SSN666
The tint shouldn't have any impact. The tint is on the inside of the window and thus inside of the antenna's location. Unless the tint is high metallic and wears truu the coating over the antenna I don't see how it would affect it. At least 20% tint doesn't bother mine. mcsquish
Wel, I should find out what 50% (don't want to have to worry about the cops) and 15% do to the reception. I take the car in for a power sunroof and tint next week while I am once again traveling for work. ________ Dc marijuana dispensary

iyalla
As you can tell tint brand is like oil brand. Get it done at a reputable shop and pick their best or popular tint and you should be good to go.
jwfoster
On my other car ('03 Nissan Max) I've had Huper Optik 40 for three years with great results. The higher cost (at the time $400) was because of :exclusive geographic area, available from Lexus dealership only, great install, great service (got loaner Lexus SUV for the day), and the ceramic tint offers the best heat rejection (MY reason for getting it). 3M now has a close competing ceramic tint for $300 install.
