But I have a (stupid) question: Is there any way to switch the shifting position in manual mode, so that *forward* shifts down and *backward* shifts up, a la Mazda 6? I figure that if the shifter is actually an oversized electric switch, then probably the connectors (if there are more than one) can be exchanged, or the wires in the connector (if there's only one) can be fiddled with. Six_wheeler Posted June 12, 2006 Author Share Posted June 12, 2006 I'm talking about the automatic transmission shifter in manual mode (i.e. the +/- gate.) With the Legacy, nudging the shifter forward (+) shifts up and pulling backward (-) shifts down, which is the exact opposite of the likes of the Mazda 6.
